2024 Masters at Augusta National: Saturday, 3rd round tee times, pairings
Bryson DeChambeau, Max Homa, and Scottie Scheffler, co-leaders at the halfway point of the Masters, all navigated challenging winds at Augusta National on Friday.
DeChambeau’s patient approach and adherence to his Game plan helped him maintain his position at the top of the board, where he was, albeit it alone, after Day 1, despite shooting a one-over par 73. Homa, also at six under, held the lead at times during the second round and made minimal mistakes. Scheffler, the favorite going into the tournament, relied on his experience and often had to settle for pars amidst the challenging conditions.
Speaking after Friday’s performance, DeChambeau was feeling positive, focusing on his strong showing and with eyes on another major title. Homa was quick to acknowledge the difficulty of the conditions but emphasised the importance of patience getting around the course unscathed. Scheffler, for his part, highlighted the mental challenge of major championship Golf and the need to stay relaxed and focused in spite of everything going on around them.
Their performances set the stage for an exciting weekend at Augusta.

As well as the lowest scorers making the headlines – note that European hot-shot Nicolai Højgaard from Denmark, who was the youngest player in last year’s Ryder Cup heads out with Scheffler – much attention will be kept on Tiger Woods. The five-time Masters champion has already set a new record by making his 24th consecutive cut at Augusta. Could he really go level with Jack Nicklaus by taking a sixth green jacket? It’s a big ask.
