The ball is rolling in the Copa América and at AS USA, it’s safe to say that alongside the Euros, we’re pretty excited to have near round-the-clock Football over summer. Brazil are set to open their Copa account against Costa Rica at SoFi Stadium in California (Monday, 24 June 2024. KO 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT.)

The Canarinha are, with the talent they have on show, one of the favourites to go all the way in the tournament. With Dorival Júnior at the helm, the side have figures who ply their trade across the world... but who exactly made the cut? And, perhaps just as interestingly, who didn’t?

We take a look at the full list of players set to take on the challenge of the 2024 Copa América:

Which players were left out of Brazil’s Copa América squad?

As you can see, the squad is brimming with top talent. Players up front such as Vini Jr, Rodrygo and Raphinha all have experience in Spain’s top division while Gabriel Martinelli is a Premier League regular. For some added flair, Sávio is a part of the squad, coming from the Girona side that swept aside most teams in LaLiga and Endrick, soon to be at Real Madrid, has been scoring for fun in his domestic league.

However, there are notable exceptions to the squad. Neymar Jr is the standout omission from the side, with the Al-Hilal player currently recovering from an injury. As well as Ney, Richarlison and Ederson did not make the side due to injury.

Players who were simply omitted, without injury, include Manchester United duo Casemiro and Antony, who have struggled to make their mark this season in the Premier League. Despite these huge names being left out, every time that famous combination of yellow shirts, blue shorts and white socks steps onto the pitch, it sets the hairs raising on your neck for what might be about to come.
