Will Chris Finch be coaching the Timberwolves in game 1 against Denver? Who will be head coach if he doesn’t?

Despite Minnesota Timberwolves having little trouble with a 4-0 sweep against the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the Playoffs, the win in Game 4 was overshadowed to an injury sustained by head coach Chris Finch.

The incident occurred after a collision with point guard Timberwolves Mike Conley which resulted with the coach sustaining a torn patellar tendon.

The team now advance to the Western Conference semifinals and face reigning NBA champions Denver Nuggets with questions marks about Finch’s presence on the bench for the series.

The news for Minnesota fans regarding the head coach being back in action is positive with the 54-year-old coach overseeing a practice session for the first time on Thursday, albeit from a seat.

“Basically nothing changed other than the fact that he was sitting down other than standing up,” assistant coach Micah Nori (who has been overseeing the team in Finch’s absence) told reporters. “Everything was going on right in front of him, and he was stopping practice and coaching just as he always would, so nothing much changed on that front so it was very good.”

With the Minnesota expedition flying to Colorado on Friday, Finch stayed behind as he had a post-op appointment on Friday morning with the coach making the trip to Denver late on Friday.

“Other than him just not physically being on the plane with us, that’s the only thing he’ll miss as far as Game prep for Saturday,” Nori added.
