Robert Jr. is Mary’s pride and joy. During season 1, Mary had an intimate conversation with RHOSLC costar Meredith Marks, admitting that her marriage turned into a “partnership” while raising her son.

“You get in a space where you grow apart. Robert Sr., he’s in love with his son, like he will do anything for him,” Mary told Meredith. “I’m the helicopter mom. We became partners as opposed to a marriage.”

In December 2021, Mary shared her love for her son during an episode of RHOSLC: After Show while exploring a strained family relationship.

“I would never turn on my son, no matter what choices he made. Coming through 25 years of not speaking to my mom is a blessing because I learned a lot and I learned how to be a better mom to my son,” she shared of her estrangement with her parents. “There’s nothing there that feels like I need her.”

During season 5, the spiritual leader revealed that Robert Jr. wasn’t in college and he was living with her again.

Robert Jr. made a cameo when he grabbed a few donuts from the kitchen before returning to his room.

“Robert does ask me for money, and no he’s not working, but I just feel like he’s very sheltered. I feel like that’s my fault, and so I don’t mind him staying home,” Mary said in a confessional. “One day I’ll give him the boot. But not right now.”

“[Robert Jr.] told me he wanted to get married and I said, ‘No, he doesn’t. You don’t even understand what comes with that. That’s like a Lifestyle. Like, you have to be the provider’” Mary said during a January 2024 interview with BravoTV. “And I was like, ‘She’s not your wife. Like, I can tell you – listen to your mom. She is not the woman you want to marry,’” she said. “He did not hear anything I said. He just went and got married.”

In March 2022, Robert Jr. was arrested for a DUI in Utah, according to court documents obtained by In Touch. While talking to a police officer, Robert Jr. admitted to taking oxycontin, Xanax, and smoking marijuana earlier that day.

Robert Jr. was arrested and charged with driving under the iNFLuence of alcohol, improper right turn, driving on suspension alcohol related, and failure to operate within a single lane. He pleaded not guilty to three of the four charges and ended up leaving the hearing with a DUI charge and a $1,610 fine. However, he failed to appear in a summer 2024 court date and has an upcoming hearing in November 2024.

Mary Cosby’s Son Robert Jr. Went to Rehab

Robert Jr. checked into rehab for his struggles with substance abuse in July 2024 amid his legal woes. The Sun reported the news that October.

Mary gave fans an update on her son that October, telling Entertainment Tonight that he’s doing “good.”
