Who are the Heisman Trophy finalists? When and where is the ceremony?
The 2023 college football season is ending, and the four teams participating in the College Football Playoff have already been determined.
The Heisman Trophy, which has been awarded to the best player in the country since 1935, is yet to be won. The four finalists for the award are quarterback Jayden Daniels from LSU, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. from Ohio State, quarterback Bo Nix from Oregon, and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. from Washington.
The competition winner will be announced on Saturday, December 9th, during a special program broadcasted by ESPN at 8 p.m. ET in the United States. The 10 players who received the most votes will be announced the night before. The finalists are chosen after counting 928 votes, which are divided into 870 members of the media, 57 former Heisman winners, and one fan vote.
Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU Tigers
Daniel’s had an outstanding season with 40 touchdowns through the air and 10 more on the ground. He delivered a historic performance against the Florida Gators, throwing for 372 yards and adding 234 on the ground. No quarterback had ever achieved a 350-200 game before. In addition to his impressive performance, he also won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State Buckeyes
The son of Marvin Harrison, a legendary NFL receiver, had an outstanding season with the Buckeyes. He caught 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns and scored two rushing touchdowns.
Bo Nix, QB, Oregon Ducks
Nix was the most accurate quarterback in the entire NCAA during the 2023 season, completing 77.2 percent of his throws. Additionally, the Oregon QB finished the year with 4,145 passing yards, 40 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. The Ducks utilized Nix’s versatility throughout the season, as evidenced by his 228 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.
Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington Huskies
The reason why Washington made it to the College Football Playoff was partly due to the outstanding performance of their quarterback. Penix Jr. had the highest number of yards among Pac-12 quarterbacks, with 4,218, and he also threw 33 touchdowns.
