Chris Sutton’s Hilarious Response to Celtic’s Christmas Advert
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton couldn’t resist having a bit of festive fun after the release of the club’s latest Christmas advert.
Celtic fans got to watch the advert from lunchtime on Thursday.
The ad, a staple of Celtic’s Christmas tradition, follows the emotional story of Joe, a lifelong Hoops supporter, as he dreams of joining his beloved team.
In the advert, Joe, played by Tony Roper, magically finds himself on the pitch at Celtic Park, setting up a goal for none other than club legend Henrik Larsson.
The tale is a poignant one, as Joe and his granddaughter face Christmas without his wife, Margaret.
The dreamlike sequence ends with Joe waking on Christmas morning to discover muddy boots and a signed book from Larsson, thanking him for the assist.
While the ad pulled at fans’ heartstrings, Sutton, never one to miss an opportunity for patter, chimed in on social media with a playful jibe. Referencing the scene where Joe assists Larsson, Sutton tweeted, “Not happy with Joe trying to take my assist off me 🤣🎅🤣🎄☘️👇”
It was another great advert from Celtic. Last year’s did lack the emotional pull that this year’s has, so it was good to see that improvement.
It was also great to have former Celts involved, whether it be through CGI or a personal appearance.
