Luis Palma is now officially on his pre-season break after appearing twice for Honduras in their World Cup qualifiers this month.

Honduras are taking part in a friendly against Ecuador tonight but as we explained before, Palma won’t be taking part after a request by Celtic to manager, Reinaldo Rueda, to leave him out of the squad to allow him to get some rest and recuperation before next season’s schedule begins.

The Celtic winger got married to his fiance over the weekend and as he enjoyed his honeymoon, international teaMMAte, Alberth Elis, sent the Celtic winger a message for what he did for him when he was out injured earlier this season.

Elis lauds Celtic winger’s ‘support’

Alberth Elis was involved in a horrific incident back in February whilst playing for Bordeaux in Ligue 2 against Guingamp.

Elis suffered a serious head knock and was knocked unconscious and had to be put into an induced coma prior to receiving surgery.

Palma paid tribute to his teammate when he scored in the 3-1 win at Motherwell that week and Elis gave his friend a shout-out in a recent interview back in his homeland.

Elis said [La Prensa], “Players and directors were attentive. I am grateful to them. I spoke with several teaMMAtes.

Elis is now on the road to recovery and despite not training since the on-field accident, is now hoping to get back in the French side’s first-team after being given the all-clear by doctors to resume training.

As for Palma, Celtic will be hoping that he returns home from his honeymoon fresh, invigorated and ready to tackle the season ahead with a defence of the Scottish title looming and another crack at the Champions League.
