Wednesday Evening Adam Idah Blow for Celtic Fans
Adam Idah’s inclusion in Norwich City’s starting lineup for their pre-season friendly against Club Brugge has come as a blow to Celtic fans who believed he was close to a Celtic deal.
The Scottish Champions had previously tabled a £4.5 million offer for the Irish striker, only to see it rejected by the Canaries. Despite this setback, Celtic’s interest in Idah remains strong, although no subsequent bids have been made as of yet.
Norwich City’s new boss, Jacob Thorup, is eager to assess Idah’s potential during the pre-season. Thorup’s decision to start the striker against Club Brugge highlights the importance he places on evaluating Idah’s capabilities before making any transfer decisions.
Idah made a significant impact at Celtic last season during his loan spell, quickly becoming a fan favourite. Unfortunately for the Hoops, there was no option to buy at the end of his loan period, leaving the club in a position where they must negotiate a transfer fee with Norwich if they wish to secure his services permanently.
The urgency to sign Idah has increased following the recent sale of Celtic’s second striker, Oh Hyeon-gyu, to Belgian side Genk. Many had anticipated that this move would expedite the acquisition of Idah, given the need to bolster the attacking options at the club.

While Celtic are currently training in the USA as part of their pre-season preparations, the club’s management will be keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Idah. His performance against Club Brugge could be a decisive factor in whether Norwich decides to keep him or if Celtic gets another opportunity to bring him back to Parkhead.
