Denmark international Kasper Schmeichel has successfully passed his medical and will officially become a Celtic player in the next 24 hours. The 37-year-old veteran goalkeeper is en route to join his new teammates at their training camp in the USA and is poised to sign a one-year deal with an option for an additional season. This significant signing marks Celtic’s second goalkeeper acquisition this week, following the confirmation of Viljami Sinisalo’s transfer from Aston Villa on Tuesday.

Schmeichel’s arrival to replace the retired Joe Hart likely signals the end of Benjamin Siegrist’s tenure at Celtic. Siegrist, who joined the club two years ago, has struggled get any sort of Game time. With Schmeichel and Sinisalo now in the fold, Siegrist will seek opportunities elsewhere to revive his career.

Kasper Schmeichel’s journey to Celtic is a notable development for the club. Schmeichel, who has had an illustrious career most notably at Leicester City and most recently at Anderlecht, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the team. His reunion with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, under whom he won the FA Cup at Leicester City, adds an extra layer of familiarity.

Fans can expect Schmeichel to make an immediate impact upon joining the team. His extensive experience in top-flight Football means he will go right in as number one over the next few weeks. Although we will likely not see him during the first pre-season friendly against DC United.

We hope Kasper and his teaMMAtes can strike up a good understanding in the next few weeks in preparation for the new SPFL season which kicks off for the champions on August 4.
