Draftkings Open Championship Second Round DFS Picks 7/19/24

This Friday morning, Draftkings Golf fans will be presented with the second round of the Open Championship. Let’s take a look at the second round of this event from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my DFS player selections, let’s review where the second round of the Open Championship will be played.

The second round of the 2024 Open Championship will be played at the Royal Troon in Ayrshire, Scotland. The golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,058 yards.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my DraftKings player selections for the second round of the 2024 Open Championship.

Draftkings Open Championship Second Round Player Selections

Shane Lowry $8,600

Shane Lowry arrives at this week’s final major championship of the year on the heels of two consecutive top 19 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a ninth-place result at the 2024 Travelers Championship five weeks ago.

Due to Shane Lowry’s quality finish at the 2024 Travelers Championship I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Lowry fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of comPetitive play at the 2024 Travelers Championship, in relation to the field, Shane Lowry ranked third in strokes gained approach (1.327), eighth in strokes gained tee to green (1.788), 19th in driving accuracy (71.4%), and 19th in GIR (greens in regulation-77.9%).

Upon the completion of this afternoon’s first round at the 2024 Open Championship, Shane Lowry is currently in solo second place with a score of five under par.

Alex Noren $7,500

Alex Noren has accumulated two top 22 finishes in his last four tournaments played in the PGA Tour, including a tenth-place result at last week’s 2024 Genesis Scottish Open.

Noren also checks the box for me when it comes to previous event History. Since 2012, Alex Noren has played the Open Championship a total of eight times. In those eight events just mentioned, Noren has accumulated five top 23 finishes, including an 11th place result at the 2019 Open Championship.

Upon the completion of this afternoon’s first round at the 2024 Open Championship, Alex Noren is currently in a tie for fourth place with a score of two under par.

Aaron Rai $7,800

Last month, Aaron Rai fired a third round 65 at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open en route to an eventual 14th place finish.

Due to Aaron Rai’s quality finish at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Rai fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open, in relation to the field, Aaron Rai ranked first in driving accuracy (78.6%), fifth in GIR (greens in regulation-79.2%), first in strokes gained tee to green (2.741), and second in strokes gained off the tee (1.269).
