The 1990 New York Yankees are making headlines… again.

Page Six is exclusively unveiling the first trailer for Peacock’s newest original docuseries, “Bronx Zoo ’90: Crime, Chaos and Baseball,” which chronicles the MLB team’s infamous antics – both on and off the field – over three decades after their turbulent season.

“There’s a Yankees story you’re accustomed to hearing. The iconic Hall of Famers, the 27 championships, the dynasty,” a voiceover at the beginning of the clip teases. “Well, this is not that Yankees story. This is the one they don’t want you to hear.”

The trailer then flashes to the year 1990, when the Yankees were, per New York Post Sports columnist Joel Sherman, “both a laughingstock and a horror show, something hard to watch and impossible to avert your eyes from.”

The new Peacock project is inspired by the longtime baseball writer’s in-depth “Bronx Zoo” article series for The Post. Sherman recalled the 1990 season being “insane” for the storied MLB team, telling cameras, “It really was the Bronx Zoo.”

“The 1990 Yankees were terrible. No, terrible does not sum it up,” Sherman wrote in 2020. “A worst team emerges annually in every sport. This was a disaster. A humiliation. A fiasco.”

“Bronx Zoo ’90” takes a closer look at the 1990 Yankees team, recalling everything from their season of errors (resulting in a tumultuous record of 67 wins and 95 losses) to bringing illegally purchased cougar cubs to the Yankee Stadium clubhouse, former owner George Steinbrenner’s obsession with destroying Dave Winfield, drama involving MLB/NFL star Deion Sanders’ “yo-yo’ing” career decisions and more.

“I’ve been trying to forget that team,” former Yankees manager Buck Showalter admits in part, in a solo confessional teased in the trailer.

The sports docuseries also provides rare insight into former Yankees outfielder Mel Hall’s high-profile romance with then-high school student Chastity Easterly. At the time, Easterly was only 15 years old when she struck up a relationship with the athlete.

Hall, now 63, was sentenced to 45 years in prison in June 2009 after being convicted on three counts of aggravated sexual assault and two counts of indecency with a child, ESPN reported. He is currently serving 40 years behind bars at the H. H. Coffield Unit in Tennessee Colony, Texas.

Despite all the controversies, and feeling like the team hit “rock bottom,” the docuseries also highlights how the 1990 Yankees “laid the groundwork for one of the greatest dynasties” in sports history.

As “Good Day New York” anchor Rosanna Scotto so perfectly put it, “New Yorkers don’t like to lose.”

“Bronx Zoo ’90: Crime, Chaos and Baseball,” produced by Believe Entertainment Group, New York Post Entertainment and Whitecap Entertainment, premieres Thursday, May 16, exclusively on Peacock. Other notable sports figures with cameos include former Yankees players Don Mattingly, Steve Sax, Dave LaPoint and Kevin Maas, along with general manager Brian Cashman and announcer Michael Kay.
