Video: The Kasper Schmeichel Moment v Dundee That’s Flown Under the Radar
In Celtic’s 2-0 victory over Dundee, one big moment from Kasper Schmeichel has gone largely unnoticed.
Just 60 seconds into the match, Dundee nearly took a shock early lead.
After Celtic failed to clear Lyall Cameron’s free kick, the ball fell perfectly for Juan Portales, who struck it first-time, forcing Schmeichel into a brilliant diving save. This early intervention was vital; had Dundee gone ahead, it could have drastically altered the Game’s tempo and potentially shaken Celtic’s confidence.

Tony Docherty’s Dundee side proved difficult to break down, sitting deep and defending in numbers, which limited Celtic’s attacking options.
As the Game wore on, tension at Celtic Park grew, but the Hoops remained patient, waiting until Alistair Johnston finally broke the deadlock in the second half. Arne Engels later doubled the lead from the penalty spot, securing three points and widening Celtic’s lead to nine points over Rangers.
Schmeichel’s crucial early save set the stage for a composed and disciplined Celtic performance. He was quiet after that, and Dundee didn’t really pose a threat.
Things could’ve turned out so differently had that shot gone in, and it easily could’ve if it wasn’t for the terrific save.
The Hoops won 2-0 in the end, and Schmeichel kept another clean sheet.
