Callum McGregor reacted to the Hoops’ sensational 6-0 win over Aberdeen at Hampden, with the captain returning from injury and leading by example for 90 minutes.

McGregor looked to have fully recovered from his abductor injury suffered against Atalanta in Bergamo a week and a half ago.

He said: (Premier Sports), “Obviously a semi-final, the objective is to get to the final and if you can do it in style, then great! I thought the lads were fantastic, the level of finishing was unbelievable and then you control the Game from there, but the three goals first half gives you a really good start.

“Of course, if you get 1-0 up, he (Brendan Rodgers) wants two, he wants three, he wants four and you’ve got to keep the back door shut as well. In terms of a semi-final performance then all we can ask for is, clean sheet, as many goals as we can and get ourself into the final which we’ve done.

“We’ll see what happens tomorrow, and see which opponent we face in the final, and then it’s the same thing, you’ve got to reset and once the game comes, you put everything into it and try and win the game and that’s where we’ll be come December.”

McGregor highlights the standards Rodgers expects, and no one exemplifies this better than the Hoops skipper, who is, most weeks, an 8/10 minimum and has given the club so much since breaking through in 2013.

As usual, McGregor reflects on the Game well but stays humble ahead of the final on December 15th, which, given the fact it is so far away, allows the team to prepare thoroughly.

With RB Leipzig on Tuesday in the Champions League, McGregor will play a huge role in that Game, and his iNFLuence on this Celtic side can never be underestimated.
