UFO Abductees and Experimenters: The UFO Abduction Syndrome
So is there a distinction between U̳F̳O̳ experiencers and abductees? The answer is yes, according to Kathleen Mardena, former director of MU̳F̳O̳n\’s experience research team.
Marden oversaw a sizable study we wrote about on this site a few years ago, and it yielded, to say the least, some unexpected findings.
The research was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Don C. Donderi, a retired statistician and professor of psychology at McGill University.
Respondents described having various types of interactions with the NHI that were supposedly ex̳t̳r̳a̳t̳e̳r̳r̳e̳s̳t̳r̳i̳a̳l̳ in nature.
A group of surveys designed to segregate abductees into a different group that demonstrate the signs of U̳F̳O̳ Abduction Syndrome were administered to approximately 600 individuals.
The two-year study involved collecting data from participants and comparing the two experimental groups, abductees and contactees.
So most of us experimenters would instinctively classify the two groups as one. However, are experimenters and abductees the same thing? Very interesting query.
Marden states that contactees who engaged in astral flight, conscious contact with non-physical entities, remote viewing, or communication produced by shamanic drugs were specifically left out of the study questions.
Marden added that “the biggest problem with a survey of this type is the inability to measure the psychological functioning of its participants and the veracity of the statistical data.”
U̳F̳O̳ Abductees and Experimenters
A search like this has the downside that scammers will always be a possibility.
In other words, doubters, those who are only interested in becoming “famous” or those who are ignorant of the subject but will just “throw a wrench in the works” to be naughty.
How did Marden and her group get around this problem?
They prepared a series of what she calls the hot questions because they anticipated this.
“So we came up with some leading questions. We had 118 questions in total. We wanted to have five hundred to six hundred participants, and in our leading questions, we would be able to determine who was simply jumping in to cheat and skew our results.”
“And we weeded out the ones that were incomplete and we weeded out the ones that were obvious fraudsters. So Dr. Don Donderi administered the American Personality Inventory.”
“The American Personality Inventory was developed to determine which self-identified experiencers were abductees and actual U̳F̳O̳ experiencers.”
“It went against those people who knew a lot about it, but that we\’re just pretending.”
“And then those in the general population, who were a third group, who knew very little about the issue and maybe were just trying to rip us off.”
“So what he found was that there were a lot of people clustered around what they called the U̳F̳O̳ abduction group.”
“We didn\’t have hopefuls for that group either, although we had a very close couple. We were able to identify the abductees as opposed to the interviewees.”
“When we compared their results, we found that those who were in the group of abductees had certain characteristics at a much higher percentage than the overall experimenters.”
U̳F̳O̳ Abduction Syndrome
What distinguishes experiencers from abductees, then? There\’s one?
Any U̳F̳O̳ event involving contact seems to fall into the same category, right?
Marden claims, however, that they found that the group with U̳F̳O̳ abduction syndrome were accurately labeled as abductees.
“We only identified abductees in the 118-question survey. We ended up with 516 surveys that we could use.”
“The difference is that among all the research participants, there was this group that had the abduction syndrome, which we call abductees”
“And so experimenters were different from abductees.”
“The abductees had the knowledge and emotional impact of being taken onto a craft against their will.”
“We had people who were contacted, who tried to start their experience.”
“People who were channeling, people who were meditating, and people who were having highly positive experiences.”
Have people identified different races of a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳s?
According to Marden, several different a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ races have been discovered.
It was fascinating to note that most of the recognized a̳l̳i̳e̳n̳ races belonged to the so-called greys.
And most of the group found themselves to be between 5 and 5 feet tall. This appears to match a significant portion of the physical details described by abductees.
Marden goes into more detail in the conversation, providing interesting insight into what abductees and experiencers have said.
