The Premier League retention announcements certainly caused a lot of interest from a Celtic angle over the last couple of days.

We discussed yesterday how former Celtic targets Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon were both released by Tottenham Hotspur.

And as it turns out, there were eight players in total released who Celtic have shown interest in over the years.

Would Celtic go back and take a second look? That’s anyone’s guess but in a closer look at the full list, two highly-rated Celtic Academy graduates left Parkhead in pursuit of the English Premier League dream who have been released and are now looking for new clubs.

Josh Adam was released by Manchester City

Young Adam was highly rated at Celtic and left Paradise for The Etihad in August of 2020.

Capped twice at u21 level for Scotland, Adam twice won the Premier League with Man City’s u21 and u23 as well as winning the Youth League with City’s u18. [Transfermarkt]

Promoted to Manchester City’s Elite Development squad, Adam made 29 appearances for the elite team scoring four goals.

However, despite being called up by Pep Guardiola to the senior team‘s training sessions, Adam is now deemed surplus to requirements by the Premier League champions.

However, it seems that the former Celtic starlet is likely not going to be short of suitors as Club Brugge and Lille amongst other clubs in Europe were heavily linked to him last season. [Daily Mail]

Vincent Angelini was freed by Brentford

Linked to the likes of AC Milan and Brighton, Angelini chose to leave Celtic in 2021 and sign for Watford.

After two seasons at the club and no appearances, Angelini did make the Watford matchday bench on three occasions but was never called upon.

Again, with no first-team appearances. However, it hasn’t worked out for the youngster and despite showing a lot of promise at the start of his journey with Celtic, Brentford have allowed Angelini to leave and try to pursue a career elsewhere.
