The 2024-25 NBA season will be pivotal for the Toronto Raptors.

The Toronto Raptors' odds of making the playoffs aren’t great, but it’ll be important to see if they can build around their core of Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, and RJ Barrett.

Does this up-and-coming roster develop and give us some value in the NBA futures market? If not, it could be another long winter in The North.

Or can the Raps take it one step further, prove the NBA odds wrong, and make a push for the playoffs? Let’s break down their chances and make some NBA picks for the Toronto Raptors this season.

Raptors regular season win total prediction

Over  Under
30.5 (+100) 30.5 (-130)

The biggest question the Raptors need to answer this season is whether or not they can build around Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, and RJ Barrett. The Toronto front office must think the answer is yes after giving Barnes a max extension and Quickly $175 million over the same five-year period.

When those three were on the floor with Jakob Poeltl, they outscored opponents by 10.8 points per 100 possessions. Barnes is versatile, Barrett looks like he’s improved over the summer with Team Canada, and Quickley should be a problem in the two-man game.

While Poeltl came out and said the tank is on during media day, the talent on the roster compared to other NBA bottom feeders makes that a little difficult to envision. Keep in mind that the Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, and Charlotte Hornets are all still in the Eastern Conference. Otherwise, the vibes around this team are good, and getting even money on Over 30.5 wins looks like a solid bet.

Raptors Prediction: Over 30.5 (+100 at PointsBet)

Raptors playoff prediction

Yes No
+450 -667

The Raptors are unsurprisingly long shots to make the playoffs this season following a year in which they won just 25 Games. These odds imply just an 18.2% chance, and GM Masai Ujiri said “rebuilding” is the right word to describe the team. But sneaking into the playoffs for the Raptors might not be as farfetched as it seems.

Not only is there potential for growth on this roster, but head coach Darko Rajokovic gets his first full offseason to implement his system. Let's also consider that the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks made the play-in tournament with 39 and 36 wins, while the Brooklyn Nets also finished ahead of the Raps with 32 wins. All three of those teams look like they could regress this season.

Getting into the full-blown playoffs is unlikely, but betting on the Raptors at +150 offers sneaky value.

Raptors Prediction: To make the Play-In Tournament - Yes (+150 at PointsBet)

Immanuel Quickley prediction

Over  Under
2.8 Made 3s Per Game (-115) 2.8 Made 3s Per Game (-115)

Oddsmakers have set the Over/Under for IMMAnuel Quickley’s made threes per Game at 2.8.

Over Quickley’s final 26 games with the Raptors, he became the focal point of the offense and hit 2.9 nine threes on 7.7 attempts per game. It doesn’t hurt that he also had the best shooting season of his career in terms of percentage, knocking down 39.5% of his treys.

I don’t think Toronto would be willing to invest all that money in IQ if they weren’t confident he could maintain these marks from beyond the arc. I like the Over on Quickley’s made threes per game at this number.

Raptors Prediction: Over 2.8 made 3s per game (-115 at PointsBet)

Raptors awards futures prediction

Award Candidate Odds
MVP Scottie Barnes +50,000
Defensive Player of the Year Scottie Barnes +20,000
Rookie of the Year Ja'Kobe Walter +10,000
Sixth Man of the Year Bruce Brown +15,000
Coach of the Year Darko Rajakovic +6,000

As you can see, it looks like a long shot for the Raptors to win any season-long awards, but there is one not listed above that may have some value. That’s Immanuel Quickley to win Most Improved Player at +2,000.

This will be Quickley’s first season as a full-time starter, and the Raptors are invested in unlocking his full potential.

In 38 Games with the Raptors last season, Quickley put up 18.6 points per Game while shooting 39.5% from 3-point range with 6.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds per Game. All of those would be career highs.

Quickley forms a strong two-man game with both Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett, and he also boasts a low turnover rate while shooing nearly 40% from beyond the arc last season. The potential is there for another leap from Quickley, so he'll be in the conversation for this award.

Raptors Prediction: IMMAnuel Quickley to be named Most Improved Player (+2,000 at PointsBet)
