The two top universities in Nigeria are the Universities of Lagos and Ibadan, according to the latest rankings.
According to the 2023 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which were issued on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, the two universities were rated first among Nigerian universities and 401-500th out of more than 1,799 institutions all over the world.
UNILAG and the University of Ibadan, both of which are positioned 401–500 in the globe, are tied for the top slot.
Data from the Times Higher Education website indicates that the rankings were determined using 13 calibrated performance factors that assess each institution’s performance in four different categories: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international view.
The University of Lagos global rankings in 2020 ranged from 801 to 1000, from 601 to 800 in 2021, and from 501 to 600 in 2022.
The Federal University of Technology in Akure and Bayero University in Kano, both of which share the 1001–1200th spot in the 2023 World University Rankings, are other Nigerian universities that made the list.
