As the dust settles following the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics, it’s safe to say that one celebrity who became an unlikely MVP of the tournament was Snoop Dogg. The rapper turned out to be NBC’s special correspondent for the Paris Games and a celebrity to watch out for at the tournament. From upping his fashion game with the dressage uniform to Michelin-dining in Paris with Martha Stewart, the rapper raised the bar of entertainment at the sporting event. In case you missed it, here are some of Snoop Dogg’s best moments from the 2024 Paris Olympics.

It all started with Snoop Dogg making waves at the Olympics trials in June by putting on his Nike track shoes and participating in the 200-meter race. Cut to the commencement of the Paris Games and the rapper proudly flaunted the Team USA uniform, having earned the role of one of the torchbearers. All through the tournament, the rap legend was seen encouraging athletes, delivering hilarious commentary and keeping everyone hooked on the sporting events across all the venues at the Paris Games.

While Hollywood star Tom Cruise’s mindblowing roof jump and riveting motorbike stunts at the closing ceremony sealed his place in Olympics history, Snoop Dogg attempting every sport from fencing to swimming was no less an iconic feat. Hence, to celebrate the end of the 2024 Summer Olympics, here are the best moments of Snoop Dogg at the Olympics.

Step aside, Drake and Kendrick Lamar! Claiming a top spot in among 2024’s most dramatic moments, fellow rapper Snoop Dogg has upstaged the beefing rappers by appearing at the 2024 Olympics. Assuming the role of one of the torchbearers in the official relay during the opening ceremony, the singer happily waved at the Paris crowds and gushed about the feeling of holding the prestigious torch, saying he “felt like Muhammad Ali.” Notably, this only marked the beginning of Snoop’s journey at the world’s biggest sporting event, where he went on to interact with athletes, cheering alongside the crowds while taking on the role of NBC’s special correspondent.

Donning the Equestrian look

Taking the epic friendship to the Olympics, Snoop Dogg invited his close friend Martha Stewart to the sporting event. The duo attended the equestrian events donning matching uniforms and soon went viral for their sleek looks. Nailing the dressage aesthetic, the rapper looked comPetition-ready in a black tailcoat over a white polo and matching trousers. The outfit further stood out with brown leather chaps, black sneakers by Skechers, and Givenchy aviators emblazoned with stars for a touch of Americana.

The 52-year-old rapper, who has admitted to being fearful of horses, confirmed that he invited Stewart to the equestrian event since she “knows horses.” From their cooking series Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party to dressage twinning at the Olympics, Martha and Snoop’s friendship has come a long way, and it was delightful to see the two friends enjoying the Paris Games together. While in the French city, the duo also indulged in Parisian dining with a visit to Le Cinq, a Michelin-starred restaurant serving classic French food.

Swimming lesson with Michael Phelps

Besides spending time with his bestie Martha Stewart, the rapper also forged new connections at the games. In what could be summed up as a pinch-me moment for any Olympics super fan, Snoop Dogg received a swimming lesson from 23-time Olympic champion Michael Phelps. Despite having belted out some of the biggest rap hits, the Gin and Juice singer was generous with praise, expressing that Phelps had “great lung power” in response to Phelps’ sharing that his secret sauce to swimming success was “Wing span and lung power.” Over the course of the lesson, the two shared fun banter, which included a bit where Snoop joked, “Our bodies are similar, Mike, we could be twins!” While fans are used to seeing Snoop Dogg show off his love for golf, it was admirably entertaining to watch him attempt Olympic-level swimming.

Coaching the Women’s Beach Volleyball Team

Bringing his positivity and merriment to the tournament, Snoop Dogg cheered for Team USA’s women’s beach volleyball team at the iconic venue in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, even jokingly referring to himself as their “coach.” Dressed in a T-shirt that read “USA”, the rapper not only warmed up the crowds during the game but also waved a large US flag from the stands after the team clinched an impressive victory. He also interacted with the US volleyball players — Sara Hughes and Kelly Cheng in a fun practice session ahead of their big game, where he tried his hand at the sport.

Bonding with Simone Biles’ family

US gymnast Simone Biles‘ family attended the Paris Olympics to support her, and it was a particularly special occasion as her father Ronald Biles ringed in his 75th birthday during the tournament. While the gold medalist Olympian shared a series of sweet pictures on her Instagram Stories on August 8 to celebrate her father, it was Snoop Dogg’s extravagant gift to him that made the headlines. Simone’s sister, Adria Biles showed off the high-bling necklace in her Instagram stories, featuring a delighted Ronald posing with a gold Death Row Records necklace, jokingly writing, “Snoop gave him a chain now he don’t know how to act.”

In yet another cool moment, Simone and the rapper also enjoyed watching the track and field events together, with the Olympian admitting that it was the first time she had ever attended an Olympic event as a fan. Videos of the duo cheering for US athletes went viral on social media, with many fans calling their newfound friendship a major Olympic surprise.

The USA Basketball’s 50th Anniversary Party

Ahead of the knockout round games, NBCUniversal and USA Basketball hosted “A Celebration of Olympic Basketball” party that coincided with the latter’s 50th anniversary. At the celebration, Snoop took to the stage to perform some of his greatest hits such as Drop It Like It’s Hot and a cover of Next’s Too Close. The bash saw all the athletes of the 2024 US Men’s and Women’s teams — including LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, and Diana Taurasi — in attendance. Like a true rap legend, Snoop charmed the crowd with his performance, and the athletes were seen joining him on stage for an epic moment. Watching Snoop’s performance alongside the athletes, netizens quickly decided that Snoop Dogg was the true mascot of the USA Olympics delegation.

Besides his amusing commentary, Snoop Dogg’s fashion choices at the Olympics also drew attention — mainly his custom white shirts featuring the faces of notable Team USA Olympians like gymnast Simone Biles, tennis star Coco Gauff, and track athlete Noah Lyles among others. Another outfit choice that allowed the rapper to stand out in the crowds as he cheered for Team USA was his custom American-flag-themed tracksuit featuring the signature Olympic rings. Snoop further accessorised his looks with bandanas and berets to soak up the French atmosphere, thus adding himself to the list of some of the best-dressed celebrities at the 2024 Olympics.

How Snoop Dogg took over the pin-trading game

The Olympics pin trading tradition may be a long-standing favourite amongst attendees, but it certainly got a fresh twist with a Snoop Dogg pin featuring the rapper blowing smoke in the shape of the Olympics rings. As pin trading took over on TikTok as a trend, everyone, from athletes to sports correspondents were looking to score the Snoop pin. But, it was only tennis star Coco Gauff who became one of the lucky athletes to receive the rapper’s signature pin as a gift. The Olympic tennis star also shared a video thanking him for the gift, saying, “Hey Mr. Snoop, thank you for this pin. This pin is the best pin that I’ve ever gotten. And I hope to see you at US Open, or maybe I hear you may come Wednesday, to come watch us play again. So, thank you for the pin, and I’ll see you at the next one.”

The minute-by-minute rap commentary

Fulfilling his commentator duties, Snoop Dogg also analysed some of the varied sporting disciplines that Team USA participated in. Showcasing his passion for Sports and a combination of his veteran rap skills, Snoop went viral for his commentary while watching Team USA’s badminton clash with China. At one point, the rapper was heard giving a minute-by-minute play update saying, “As you see it don’t stop till the casket drop. They rocking and rolling, back and forth. Give me that, no I need that. No, over here, no, over there, what about over there?” While the rapper didn’t go in-depth or provide any technical analysis of the Game, fans found his play-by-play descriptions enjoyable, marking the occasion as one of Snoop Dogg’s best Olympics moments.

The epic breakdancing debut

At the 2024 Summer Olympics, breaking, which is a dance style that originated on the streets of the Bronx in New York City during the 1970s, made its Olympic debut. To kick off the first-ever breakdancing comPetition at the tournament, Snoop Dogg banged the brigadier to open the comPetition, sitting stageside to cheer on the dancers during the round-robin battles. After witnessing the amazing moves of the dancers first-hand, the rapper also shared an Instagram post in appreciation of the new sport, writing, “This was the real stuff!!! Respect.” Considering the connection between hip-hop music and breakdancing, watching the rapper kickstart this sport was certainly one of the best moments of Snoop Dogg at the Olympics.
