Team HK Olympic Swimmer, Karen Tam, Shows Us What She Packs for Paris 2024

As the 2024 Paris Olympics draw near, we want to take the time to acknowledge some of the talented athletes in our city. Today we have Hong Kong swimmer Tam Hoi Lam (Karen Tam) with us.

With athletes participating in Sports like swimming, taekwondo, cycling, rowing, fencing, badminton, and sailing, to name a few, many of us are going to be glued to our televisions and phones as our team joins in on one of the biggest and most historic celebrations in Sports culture.

One of the talented athletes of Hong Kong is swimmer Tam Hoi Lam (Karen Tam). Part of Team Hong Kong and the UBC Thunderbirds, Tam has won numerous medals in swimming and is a national record holder. Dedicated to training and the Lifestyle that comes with being a professional athlete, Tam showed that she is about that life by giving us a full breakdown of what she is packing for Paris — just two days before flying out.

Her spirits were high as she explained the various swimsuits and goggles she typically wears during practice versus comPetition, and elaborated that it is ultimately down to body shape and personal preference. As recovery is a big part of her success, she also revealed that half of her suitcase is filled with devices and gear specifically for recovery.

One of the most important items she brings with her when she leaves Hong Kong is a miniature plush version of Golden Sixty the racehorse. She whimsically comments that, like athletes, Golden Sixty trains hard for that one big race, and so she channels Golden Sixty as her good luck charm.
