49ers fly 800 staff for Super Bowl LVIII

The San Francisco 49ers are looking for payback against the Kansas City Chiefs, who beat them in the championship game in 2020. To help cheer the team on, the 49ers have flown some 800 members of staff, interns, family and friends to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII.

The Chiefs ended their 50-year wait for a second Super Bowl title in February 2020, lost in the championship game the next year, were one win shy of reaching the showcase in 2022 and returned last year where they once again reigned supreme.

Eight teams delivered back-to-back Super Bowl victories, and the Kansas City Chiefs are in line to become the first in 19 seasons to repeat as Lombardi Trophy winners if they can turn away the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday. How are Super Bowl cities selected?

The NFL considers a series of factors before awarding a Super Bowl with accomodation, transport, infrastructure and tehcnincal issyes all factored in.

The host stadium must be in a market that hosts an NFL team and must have a minimum of 70,000 seats, with the media and electrical amenities necessary to produce the Super Bowl. Stadiums may include temporary seating for Super Bowls, but seating must be approved by the league. Stadiums where the average game day temperature is below 50 °F (10 °C) must either have a roof or a waiver given by the league. There must be a minimum of 35,000 parking spaces within one mile of the stadium.
