Ryan Gravenberch reveals why he's excited to join Liverpool
Ryan Gravenberch has revealed he's excited to hear the Kop sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' after making his move to Liverpool.
The Reds officially confirmed the signing of Gravenberch from Bayern Munich on deadline day, with the player putting pen to paper on a long-term deal with the club.
The Netherlands international is the fourth midfielder that Jurgen Klopp's side have signed this summer alone. Gravenberch joins Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo in a new-look midfield after the departures of long-tenured Liverpool players Jordan Henderson and Fabinho - who both moved to the Saudi Pro League.
Speaking to the club's official website after making the move to Anfield, Gravenberch revealed what he's excited about after putting pen to paper: "I'm very happy. Very happy that the deal is done and I’m finally here.
"If you see it from the outside, it’'s one of the biggest clubs in the world. Also the fans, the stadium, I think everything from the outside is top. So that's why [it was the right club].
"I'm really looking forward to [being at Anfield] and I can’t wait to hear the 'You'll Never Walk Alone' song.
"Now we start fresh again, a new start, and I'm going to give my all for this club. [My ambitions are] to win prizes. To win prizes, play a lot and show them who we are and who I am."
Gravenberch also admitted that he spoke to international teammates Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo about his move to Anfield in the days leading up to the transfer.
"Before the move, I spoke a lot with the guys, they said we have a good team, everything is top here. Actually, my decision was quick," he added.
The sale of Gravenberch and the inability to push through a move for Fulham's Joao Palhinha leaves Bayern Munich incredibly short in midfield. Thomas Tuchel now has just three senior midfielders to choose from heading into a crucial UEFA Champions League campaign for the Bavarians.
