Defending champions Japan play their final game of the opening round on 18 November in Taipei City as they face Dominican Republic in the 2024 WBSC Premier12 tournament.

This is the third edition of the WBSC Premier12, a baseball championship featuring the 12 highest-ranked national teams in the world, held by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). This year’s tournament is being co-hosted by Japan, Mexico, and Taiwan.

Monday’s game is something of a formality with the Carribean side already mathematically eliminated from the competition with only the top two teams in the two groups of six progressing and with just one win and four losses from their games so far, César Martin’s team will soon be returning to Santo Domingo.

Japan will be looking to secure a berth at the Super Round and Finals which take place from November 21-24 with all games set to be held at Tokyo’s Tokyo Dome.

The Japanese side are unbeaten so far with three wins from three and will be expected to cruise past the crestfall Dominicans.

With Group A already completed, USA and Venezuela await the winners and runner’s up from Group B in the final four in Tokyo.
