Donyell Malen spent his youth career with PSV Joven and starred for the senior side for three years, hitting 40 Eredivise goals in 81 games. In 2021 he was signed by Dortmund for a reported €30 million.
Today, he comes back to haunt his former club.
Halftime in Eindhoven
There's the halftime whistle and Dortmund have the lead at the break.
Dortmund look to break through Malen but he's stopped on the halfway line.
PSV win another free kick with Lozano on the left. The Mexican's footwork is really something and he's drawing a lot of fouls from Dortmund.
He is getting a bit annoyed, however, with this physical treatment.

Yellow card for the Dortmund defender, although it's not immediately clear what for.
Possibly for a foul committed in a previous phase of play.
There will be a minimum of two minutes of added time at the end of the first half.
The ball is curled in from deep towards the head of Luuk de Jong. Meyer does well to come out quickly and claim the high ball.
PSV are on the ball to finish the half. They have enjoyed plenty of possession and created some good chances. Their finishing has let them down.
The ball is whipped in from Veerman. He finds the head of Luuk de Jong but the Dutchman heads well over.
Ian Maatsen
Huge cheers around Philips Stadion as the young fullback is showed a booking for a clumsy foul on Bakayoko. Another chance for PSV to deliver.
Joey Veerman curls in the delivery but Dortmund clear well. Maatsen sweeps the ball down the line and PSV regain possession.
PSV are building again and Lozano does well again. The Mexican skips inside of Ryerson and is pulled down. Free kick to PSV.
Lozano wants a booking for Ryerson, the free kick looked a little soft.
PSV come back on the attack with a long ball towards Bakayoko. He slips the ball through to Saibari but his shot from the angle is easily blocked.
Dortmund come forward with Ryerson on the right. The ball is played across to Sancho but the Englishman can't convert.
Luuk de Jong pinches the ball on the edge of the Dortmund box. PSV look to build but Dest gets back well and dispossesses Lozano.
Another opening for PSV!
Good work down the left for the hosts to get in behind the BVB backline. The ball is fired across goal for Bakayoko at the back post, but he misses the target.
Dortmund survive again.
PSV are really attacking through Lozano now. The ball is worked out to the winger again and he cuts inside to make space for a shot.
His effort cannons back off the calf of Sabitzer. The Dortmund man goes down and will require treatment.
Emre Can
Second booking of the game goes to Emre Can, for a foul on the recipient of the first; Chucky Lozano.
More good work from Lozano, who jinks inside past Emre Can. The Dortmund midfielder feel forced to bring him down and concedes the foul.
Good play from Chucky Lozano on the left wing. He beats his man and tries to fire in a low cross but Dortmund get the ball clear.
That Dortmund goal have taken the stuffing out of the home crowd. PSV have had real chances in the opening 30 minutes but haven't been able to take them.
Dortmund come forward with Ryersen again. He curls in the ball towards Fullkrug but the big German can't quite stretch to the ball.
PSV win the goal kick.
So close, Tillman again!
Brilliant right-footed delivery from Veerman, who puts the ball on the head of Malik Tillman. The USMNT star makes good contact but heads wide from close range.

Hirving Lozano is back on the offensive and wins a free kick for his team on the edge of the Dortmund box. Good play from the Mexican.

The German giants got off to a slow start but have grown into the game in the last ten minutes. They lead, courtesy of former PSV star Donyell Malen.

The former PSV man comes back to haunt his former club!
The picked up the ball on the edge of the box and shifted the ball onto his right foot. He took aim from a narrow angle but his effort deflects up off Dest and flies in off the crossbar.
Dortmund lead!
Ian Maatsen curls in the ball from the left but the on-loan Chelsea man's free kick is easily rebuffed by PSV.
Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano
And the PSV man gets a booking for his trouble. He pulled the Dortmund man back, but a yellow card seems a little harsh.
Ryersen does well on the right wing. Winning a free kick from Lozano in a dangerous position out wide.
So close for Dortmund!
Reus whips in a brilliant ball, whipped along the six-yard box. Ryersen gets his head on the ball from close range but can't direct it on target.
Major let-off for PSV!
First corner kick of the game for Borussia Dortmund, who are starting to grow into the match.
Big chance for Dortmund!
Clever interplay from Sancho and Reus on the left gives the German space to deliver from wide. His low cross finds Fullkrug but his swivel-effort flies over the crossbar.
Dortmund enjoy their first spell of real possession in the PSV half.
It ends rather abruptly when Malen takes aim from 30 yards. His shot bounces before reaching Benitez' goal and is easily saved.

The American midfielder picks up the ball on the edge of the Dortmund box and has time to pick his spot. He aims low but his effort is dragged slightly and bounces wide of the post.
Another big chance!
Malen takes advantage of some space in midfield for Dortmund and latches onto the ball. He lets fly from the edge of the box but it's well-saved.
Big chance for PSV!
Malik Tillman does brilliantly to pinch the ball of Maatsen and finds himself through on goal, right of center. The USMNT youngster takes a heavy touch and looks to square the ball to De Jong but his pass is blocked.
Real opening for PSV there.
Quality play from Sergino Dest down the left flank. He gets to the byline and pulls the ball back, but De Jong is a little on his heels and can't connect with the ball.
Pacey Dortmund counter attack breaks down when Sancho loses the ball in the box. Teze has done well against the Englishman so far.
Clever pass from Boscagli to sweep the ball out to Bakayoko. He keeps the ball well and skips into the box, but is dispossessed by Schlotterbeck.
Malik Tillman is felled midway inside his own half but his appeals are waved away. Dortmund will not sit back.
Good composure by Hummels to pinch the ball on the halfway line.
There's a ferocious atmosphere in the Philips Stadion this evening, they'll need his experience.
PSV break with Chucky Lozano on the left. He fires the ball across the box but a BVB defender is back to block the pass.
Corner kick to PSV, which is easily cleared.
Good play from Dortmund to dispossess Tillman and get Sancho flying forward on the counter-attack. The Englishman tries to feed the ball inside but PSV win it back.
Another good bit of build-up play by Fullkrug but the Dortmund striker is penalised for an overly-aggressively approach.
Good vision from Reus to fire the ball out to Ryersen on the right flank. PSV shuffle across well to block the advance and win a throw-in.
Lozano make progress on the left but his pass inside is cut out.
Nicolas Fullkrug wins a free kick for his side on the halfway line.
The big German has taken a knock for it, though.
Direct running from Saibari from deep, driving to the edge of the BVB box. He is dispossessed and Dortmund win back the ball.
The whole pitch is covered in a blanket of smoke, a result of the huge amount of pyrotechnics in the stadium. PSV are making the most of their return to the UCL.

The lights at Philips Stadion are dimmed ahead of the arrival of the two teams. The home PSV support is making itself heard on the team's long-awaited return to the Champions League.
The fans have covered the stands with a bold red and white tifo.
PSV put through their paces
Luuk de Jong will be the man to watch for PSV Eindhoven, coming into the Game of the back of an incredible goal-scoring run. The Dutch forward has recorded 19 goals and eight assists in 22 Eredivisie fixtures this season. The 33-year-old is one of the top scorers in Europe this year.

Hirving Lozano labelled “amateur” by press after poor PSV performances
Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano starred for PSV Eindhoven from 2016-2018, leading the club to a famous Eredivise triumph. He made the move to Napoli after two seasons but returned to PSV last summer, a move that thrilled the Eindhoven faithful.
But his return has not been the glorious success that many had predicted. Lozano was the subject of widespread criticism last week, but has another chance to feature from the start against Dortmund.

Ian Maatsen prepares for Champions League debut
The on-loan Chelsea star will make his first Champions League appearance at Philips Stadion today. The 21-year-old left back impressed with Burnley last year and joined Borussia Dortmund in January on a six-month loan deal.
PSV return to Champions League knockouts
For the first time since 2015/16, PSV Eindhoven are gearing up for a Champions League knockout clash. The Dutch giants have been on a barren run in recent years but they return to the Round-of-16 as one of the in-form teams in European soccer.

Dortmund arrive in Eindhoven
The 2023/24 season has been far from perfect for Borussia Dortmund. They sit 17 points adrift of surprise Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen and were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal, but did make it through a tough Champions League group.

Matchday ready in Eindhoven
Today's action comes from PSV's Philip Stadion, a venue that has been starved of Champions League soccer in recent years. PSV Eindhoven have not made it to the knockout rounds of the UCL since 2015/16 and have to go nearly a decade further back to get to their last knockout victory, coming in 2007.
