When the Phoenix Suns picked up ex-Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel, many tried to make the case that L.A. would rue the day they dropped him.

In comparison to Darvin Ham, these folks said, Vogel is a fantastic coach.

On Sunday, the Suns were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of their NBA playoff series. Ham’s Lakers, meanwhile, live to fight another day against the defending champion Denver Nuggets.

In the aftermath of the Suns’ loss, it became readily apparent that the front office will fire Vogel relatively soon.

Team star Kevin Durant kicked things off by leaking to the media that he was unhappy with how he was utilized.

“Meanwhile, Durant, among the best scorers in NBA History, was not always happy with how he was used,” Shams Charania reported.

“Sources briefed on the matter told The Athletic that Durant never felt comfortable with his role in Phoenix’s offense alongside [Devin] Booker and [Bradley] Beal this season.”

Beal, who is owned in excess of $50 million annually for the next three years, also made it clear how he felt about Vogel in the closing minutes of the Suns’ last Game of the season:

Clearly Vogel has lost the locker room and the team’s star players. He is as good as gone.

When will the Suns announce Vogel’s firing? Soon.
