Is Draymond Green’s criticism of the Minnesota Timberwolves correct?

Though his team failed to make the 2024 NBA Playoffs, it hasn’t stopped the Golden State Warriors star from giving his take on a number of aspects of the postseason. Most recently, he took aim at the Minnesota Timberwolves who now find themselves in a precarious position.

Draymond Green blasts the Timberwolves

On Tuesday night, the Minnesota Timberwolves were dismantled by the defending NBA champion, Denver Nuggets, in a Game that ended 112-97. With the result, the series score now stands at 3-2 in favor of the Nuggets who were at one point 2-0 down. That’s to say this was the third straight win for the Nuggets and one in which the newly crowned league MVP, Nikola Jokic, put on a clinic. Indeed, it was the Serbian’s inspired performance that was at the center of a dominant Nuggets outing. His 40 points and 13 assists were the perfect way to cap off what marks his third MVP award.

Yet, that’s not what this is about. No, this isn’t about how the Nuggets played, but rather how the Timberwolves didn’t and what that has since led to some around the league sharing. Speaking during his appearance on TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’, Golden State Warriors big man, Draymond Green was less than kind when speaking about the Timberwolves who now find themselves one loss away from elimination.

After starting by declaring that the Timberwolves no longer have a shot at winning the series, Green saved some choice words for Timberwolves center, Rudy Gobert, which it has to be said is worth noting given that the pair had an on-court tussle back in November last year. That said, it can’t be denied that Gobert is getting taken apart by Jokic, something that Green pointed directly to, before going on to speak about the team’s body language as a whole. “When you lose the belief, it’s over. And they don’t believe they can win anymore, which means this series is over,” Green said. Game 6 is set for Thursday night and it appears to be a case of do-or-die for Anthony Edwards and Co.
