Is Baby Reindeer Returning For Season 2? Everything to Know About the Netflix Series
Several Netflix series have turned real-life stories and true crime incidents into compelling dramas. A recent example of the same that has been creating waves online with its debatable story is Baby Reindeer on Netflix. The series narrates the true story of an individual who suffered a serious stalking incident but there’s much more to this story than what meets the eye.
Created by comedian Richard Gadd – who also headlines the series as the lead actor – the show dramatises Gadd’s harrowing real-life experience of being stalked; drawing from his terrifying encounters with a woman he met at a cafe.
Gadd’s unfiltered portrayal of a comedian struggling with self-sabotage and the aftermath of abuse has kept the viewers hooked, so much so that they are already rooting for Baby Reindeer season 2.

The plot follows the real-life ordeal of comedian Richard Gadd, who portrays a fictionalised version of himself named Donny. The story revolves around Donny’s hair-raising encounter with a woman named Martha Scott (played by The Outlaws actor Jessica Gunning), who becomes his serious stalker.
The series starts in 2015 at a pub in Camden – The Heart – where Donny works. When he notices Martha entering the pub alone and sitting looking rather lost, he feels a sense of compassion towards her and offers her a free cup of tea.
This seemingly kind gesture sets off a string of events that forever altered Donny’s life. As Martha’s inappropriate and disturbing behaviour unnerves Donny, her obsession with him escalates into insane stalking, giving him sleepless nights for months at end.
Gunning, in an interaction with Netflix’s Tudum, revealed that this one act of kindness serves as a turning point for Donny. Over the next three years, Martha relentlessly stalks him, baraging him with a whopping 41,000 emails and many hours of voice messages.
However, the show isn’t a typical stalker story; it delves into the intricacies of this experience, exploring the impact and aftermath on both Donny and Martha. It goes beyond the surface level of stalking, abuse, love and loneliness. Donny’s journey becomes a profound examination of the far-reaching consequences that arise from a single act of kindness and the trauma that such abuse can result in.
Is a Baby Reindeer Season 2 on the cards?
While the show received an overwhelming response with fans demanding a second season, Baby Reindeer was initially conceptualised as a limited series, meaning it was created with the intent of only having one season.
That said, one can’t undermine the impact that the show has had on audiences, hence, fans of the show can still hope for a second instalment or a spin-off.
For all you know, Netflix may consider the high ratings and renew another limited series for a second season like their earlier release The Watcher.
