The Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees meet Wednesday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a NY Yankees vs Seattle Mariners Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Seattle Mariners will send out Bryce Miller for the start here and Miller is 3-4 with a 3.08 ERA and 52 strikeouts this season. This will be Miller’s second career start against the Yankees. The New York Yankees will trot out Nestor Cortes for the start here and Cortes is 2-4 with a 3.56 ERA and 57 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cortes is 1-0 with a 3.94 ERA and 18 strikeouts against the Mariners.
Seattle Mariners Recap
The Seattle Mariners come into this Game looking to win the series after earning a series split at worst after a 6-3 win over the Yankees on Tuesday. The success is welcome for the Mariners who were coming off of a series loss against the Orioles this past weekend.
Mariners Starting To Heat Up At The Plate
Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 52 hits including a .268 batting average and also has 5 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 10 home runs along with 25 RBIs while Jorge Polanco has 5 home runs with 13 RBIs and a team-high 59 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 6 home runs and 23 RBIs while Rodriguez has a team-high 9 stolen bases as well this season.
Why the Seattle Mariners will win
- The underdogs have won each of the Mariners’ last seven games at Yankee Stadium.
- The Yankees have lost each of their last three games as favorites against AL West opponents.
- The underdogs have covered the run line in each of the last 10 games between the Mariners and Yankees.
- The Yankees have failed to cover the run line in 10 of their last 11 home games against American League opponents following a loss.
- The Mariners have led after 3 innings in each of their last three Wednesday games as road underdogs.
New York Yankees Recap
The New York Yankees come into this one looking to take one step towards salvaging a series split with the Mariners after their loss in Tuesday’s matchup. The loss and (at best) series split meant the Yankees wouldn’t be able to build on the sweeps of the Twins and White Sox last week.
Yankees Still Loaded Offensively Though
Juan Soto leads the Yankees with 59 hits along with 9 doubles and 11 home runs with 37 RBIs to go along with a .309 batting average and .408 OBP. Aaron Judge has a team-high 13 home runs of his own along with a team-leading 16 doubles while also leading the Yankees with 55 strikeouts so far this season. Anthony Volpe’s added 53 hits with 6 home runs, 23 RBIs and a team-high 9 stolen bases as well this season.
Why the New York Yankees will win
- The Mariners have lost eight of their last nine night games against the Yankees following a win.
- The Yankees have won each of their last six Wednesday games against American League opponents.
- The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine games against AL East opponents following a win.
- The Yankees have covered the run line in each of their last six Wednesday games against American League opponents.
NY Yankees vs Seattle Mariners Prediction
I’m leaning towards the Yankees here. It’s gotten bettors burned in the first couple of Games in this series, but Nestor Cortes has just been a different pitcher at home this season, and New York drilled Miller in his lone start against them in his career. The Yankees have some of the best numbers in baseball against righties in the last couple of weeks, and I think they get to Miller and get on the board in the win column in this series. Give me the Yankees here.
