Long Awaited News About a Favorite New York Destination

Many people in Delaware and Ulster County have wondered what happened to the Delaware & Ulster Railroad. Why is it still not back up and running?

The trains went idled in 2019 and the communities around the tracks have been patiently waiting for the rail line to come back up for the community to enjoy. The stoppage was caused by some infrastructure problems which thanks to a sizable loan can now be completed.

Why is the Delaware and Ulster Railroad still in Park

Last September I shared how the projects were on hold. Now it seems that the Delaware and Ulster Railroad is about to get back on track. They have recently received a $200,000 loan from the Delaware County Economic Development Department which will go a long way to restoring the railroad.

the plan is to complete restoration of the track between Arkville and Fleischmanns so an eight-mile round-trip train ride can be offered in 2025, even as we continue the track reconstruction all the way up to Highmount and expand the train program to the base of Belleayre Mountain. (via durr.org)
