New Paltz Holiday Celebration Returns with a Carnival and Parade
With the Holiday season approaching there is a lot to look forward to including some annual traditions in your hometown. In a year where one Hudson Valley town has announced its celebration is canceled, it is great to see another heading into the holidays for a 5th year ready to celebrate with a Hoopla.
Local Holiday celebrations will be filling our calendars for the next few weeks. The Town of Esopus will host a Winter Wonderland Celebration with the first-ever Holiday Tugboat Trail on December 7th. The following week Holiday Hoopla in New Paltz wants you to make them one of your holiday stops.
Holiday Hoopla Returns to New Paltz on December 14th
For the 5th year in a row, New Paltz Community Wellness welcomes everyone to celebrate the holidays with the Holiday Hoopla. The Town and Village of New Paltz will come to life for Holiday Fun. Holiday Hoopla is on the Calendar for Saturday, December 14th, New Paltz Community Wellness is looking forward to seeing you.
Enjoy a winter carnival, music, and a parade that will fill various parts of New Paltz throughout the day. Huguenot Street will welcome everyone for the Winter Carnival. A parade full of holiday-themed floats and fun will step off from the New Paltz Middle School at 5 PM. The day is capped off at Water Street Market with a community sing-along, toy drive, and refreshments. Register a Float or Group for the parade here.

What to Expect at Holiday Hoopla In New Paltz
Winter Carnival from 1 PM to 3 PM - Held at Historic Huguenot Street enjoy live music, children’s costume contest, and activities including a bounce house, face painting, Petting zoo, and more. Food vendors will also be on site. Enjoy carnival Games and other family activities.
Music Merriment and More 3 PM to 5 PM - “Music, Merriment, and More” with an outdoor stage located in the parking lot of the Elting Memorial Library. This location will feature a Youth Talent Showcase & DJ Jay Smooth
Peace and Lights Parade at 5 PM - This cheer-filled parade plans to showcase all holiday traditions and encourage everyone to participate (i.e., Solstice, Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, etc.). There is a contest for the “Most Festive,” “Most Creative,” and “Children’s Favorite” floats with prizes in each category. The parade steps off at 5 PM from the New Paltz Middle School and Travels down Main Street to the Village DPW parking lot.
Water Street Wonderland 6 PM to 9 PM - The fun continues at Water Street Market, complete with a community sing-a-long and toy drive, as well as refreshments and additional festivities. Stay tuned for additional announcements!
