Liverpool injury update: players ruled out of Carabao Cup final
Jurgen Klopp will have to plan for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final without a couple of his players. Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones will both miss the match against Chelsea at Wembley having been withdrawn in the first half of the 4-1 victory away to Brentford on Saturday.
Jota has been ruled out with a knee injury, while Jones has an ankle problem that will force him to miss upcoming Games. Scans have confirmed the pair will now spend time on the sidelines and will not be available for the Wembley final.
Liverpool doubts for final
Portuguese outlet Record report that in-form forward Jota faces up to two months out after Brentford captain Christian Norgaard landed on the Portugal international’s knee. The 27-year-old was stretchered off and subsequently replaced by Mohamed Salah in the first half of Saturday’s Premier League win.
The Reds will also be without the iNFLuential Trent Alexander-Arnold on Sunday due to a knee issue, while midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and goalkeeper Alisson are doubts going into the clash with Mauricio Pochettino’s side due to hamstring problems. Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to start at Wembley as he looks to pick up his second Carabao Cup winners’ medal with the Anfield club.
Liverpool currently lead the way in the Premier League ahead of Arsenal in second and Manchester City in third and despite their injury concerns they will be aiming for their first silverware of the season this weekend.
