It’s no secret that former President of the United States Donald Trump loves Golf, and it appears it runs in the family, with granddaughter Kai revealing she has verbally committed to playing college Golf at the University of Miami.

Who is Kai Trump?

The 17-year-old is the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and ex-wife Vanessa, and is about to go into her junior at the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida. But she already has a fair idea of what she’d like to do with her life in the future.

The fact the teenager’s personal Instagram account is called ‘kaitrumpgolfer’ says it all. On Sunday, she uploaded a post saying she was “beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Miami”.

Although she doesn’t share the nature of her scholarship, she has been tipped to have a future in the sport and her line of thanks to her grandfather suggests that is the avenue she will be going down: “I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support”.

Despite her tender years, Kai has already won the ladies’ club championship at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, one of 17 her grandfather owns worldwide. It was recently revealed that Trump Turnberry in Scotland would have the highest green fees anywhere in the world (£1000 / $1296 before 1pm) from 2025 onwards.

In a video with YouTube personality Grant Horvat last month, Kai claimed the Republican candidate for the 2024 US presidential election “always gives me a run for my money” and “wins a lot of the time” when they play against each other.

How good is Donald Trump at golf?

Before Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, the subject of Golf handicaps came up in a debate with Trump.

USGA records show Trump is a 2.5 handicap golfer, making him supremely gifted on the course. Something which he demonstrated in his own YouTube appearance on Bryson DeChambeau’s channel a few weeks ago.

Many of the world’s top golfers, including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer on the men’s side, and Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa on the women’s, played college golf before turning professional.
