Jason Kelce is getting candid about why it was aggravating to play football against little brother Travis Kelce before retiring from the NFL.

After being asked what it was like to compete against family during the Monday, November 25, broadcast of Monday Night Countdown, the former Philadelphia Eagles center, 37, had a hilarious response for his cohosts.

“It’s annoying, is what it is,” Jason said with a laugh. “Because he’s so good, that’s why. They [the Kansas City Chiefs] were very good. I was only fortunate to beat Trav once, but, yeah, when you’re out there on the field [and] you’re getting ready to play your brother, there’s just something about seeing your brother out there. You get these flashbacks of being out in the backyard playing Football together.”

Travis, 35, was drafted by the Chiefs in 2013, and has won three Super Bowl championships with the organization throughout his career in 2020, 2023 and 2024. He and the rest of the Kansas City squad are currently on a quest for their third consecutive Super Bowl win, boasting a 10-1 record so far in the 2024-2025 season. (The Chiefs lost their first Game of the season to the Buffalo Bills on November 17.)

For his part, Jason was drafted by the Eagles in 2011, and played for the franchise for 13 seasons before announcing his retirement in March earlier this year. Shortly after his retirement news broke, he joined Monday Night Countdown on ESPN, and made his network broadcast debut in September.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this month, Jason revealed that he is set to host a late-night talk show on ESPN in 2025.

“I am starting, I believe it’s January 3rd … we’re going to be doing a late-night show during the postseason on ESPN,” he told host Jimmy Kimmel. “When I first approached ESPN with potentially working for them … I love late-night shows. I remember sleepovers watching Conan O’Brien with my friends.”

He continued, “The biggest thing players say they miss when they leave the sport is being around the guys, the locker room, the banter. Being able to have this show, we’re going to have a bunch of guys up there — legends of the game, friends I’ve played the game with, coaches, celebrities.”

They Call It Late Night With Jason Kelce has been picked up for five episodes and will air every week in the early hours of Friday/Saturday at 1 a.m. through February 1, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show will be filmed at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer in front of a live audience.

Jason’s forthcoming late-night gig isn’t the only exciting announcement the Kelce family has had this month.

The former NFL player and his longtime wife, Kylie Kelce, announced they were expecting baby No. 4 — another girl — via Instagram on Friday, November 22.

“I feel like we captured a very accurate representation of how each of the girls feel about getting another sister,” Kylie, 32, captioned an adorable photo of the couple’s three kids’ hilarious reactions to getting a new baby sister. “At least Ellie, mom and dad are on the same page! 🤷‍♀️.”

In the snap, their youngest daughter, Bennett, is crying, while the eldest, Wyatt, is holding her hands over her ears in shock. Elliotte, nicknamed “Ellie,” however, is all smiles.

“I love my kids so much, and especially my daughters,” Jason told E! News on Monday. “I was telling somebody out there because they’re expecting their first — and they look at you. They smile at you. There’s just a way that kids have to warm your soul in a way that nothing else can.”

He added, “And it’s been such a blessing to have three Healthy, smart, wonderful children. And hopefully we’ll welcome a fourth into this world, and we’ll be able to watch them fight and tear each other apart and all the good stuff.”
