International Latest; Kasper Schmeichel Keeps Denmark Clean Sheet
Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel captained his country last night as they secured a vital 2-0 win over Switzerland.
The stopper kept yet another clean sheet, his fifth in six comPetitive Games this term.
The Danes left it late in Copenhagen last night, scoring both their goals in the last ten minutes against a nine-man Swiss team.
It was a perfect start in Nations League A Group 4 for the country who had a relatively disappointing European Championships in Germany over the summer.
After a sound performance last night, Schmeichel will now look ahead to Sunday evening’s clash with Serbia.
The 37-year-old will be hopeful of keeping yet another clean sheet after a quiet shift versus the Swiss, where he faced just one shot on target.
Schmeichel has been rarely tested in the early days of his Celtic career, and that has transferred onto the international scene in the new season.
Denmark deserved their three points last night but now turn their attention to the Serbs at the weekend.
Schmeichel will likely not be busy again, but that will change next month when he leads his country out against European champions Spain away from home.
Denmark also faces Switzerland in the next international break as they aim to continue their perfect start to the UEFA Nations League.
