4:13 pm Belmont Park (Race 7) – Brew Pub 9/2 (1-star play)

A field of seven colts and geldings go to post for this competitive $95,000 Allowance, which is taking place over a mile trip on the dirt course, and one who can go well is the gelding in gate three, Brew Pub, who is well worth trying at this trip.

He is a winner at this level and, although he won over six furlongs two starts back, he showed signs that he will appreciate extra distance when staying on into second place here in May.

4:47 pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – Shinsun 8/1 (1-star play)

This is an open Starter Allowance with the likes of Achilles Heel, Winning Connection and Timbuktu all likely to be vying for favouritism but I like the chances of Barclay Tagg’s Shinsun who will come on a good amount from his latest start.

He was fourth in this company, which was his first start for seven months, and this course and distance winner has been putting in some solid workouts of late so he should go close.

5:19 pm Belmont Park (Race 9) – Candy Man Rocket 2/1 (2-star play)

The Grade 2 John A. Nerud Stakes has been won by some lovely horses down the years and this year will be no exception as Candy Man Rocketlooks to continue his rich vein of form in 2023.

William Mott’s classy son of Candy Ride was last seen winning the Grade 3 Runhappy Stakes at this course and he is well capable of taking a Grade 2 so it will be disappointing should he not give a bold account.
