‘He’s that good’… Chris Sutton thinks ‘important’ Celtic player is heading for the Premier League
It’s easy to forget that in the midst of a huge Glasgow Derby, there is other Celtic news out there to report on that can get lost in the post-match noise of the fixture.
The bigger picture of Sunday’s result means that the title is still in Celtic’s hands after leaving Ibrox with a point and, to put it simply, if Brendan Rodgers wins the last six Games of the season, he will be crowned a Scottish champion once again.
However, I digress. There is transfer news to get on with and this morning we told how Celtic are looking at Werder Bremen goalkeeper, Michael Zetterer.
But as well as incomings, there is also the potential for Rodgers to lose some of his top players if they continue to play at their peak this season.
Matt O’Riley is already attracting the attention of Atletico Madrid but it’s not the Danish midfielder Chris Sutton believes will be heading to the English Premier League.
Reo Hatate will ‘end up’ in the Premier League
The Japanese midfielder has endured a difficult first season under Rodgers as injury has hampered much of this year.
Hatate was the subject of intense transfer speculation last summer but he signed a new five-year deal as he committed his long-term future to Celtic.
But that hasn’t stopped Sutton from claiming he will still end up in England.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
Sutton said [Monday Night Club], “There are reasons for that [Celtic’s poor form]. They had Reo Hatate back in the centre of the park. I think he’s only had five starts this season.
“I think he’ll end up in the Premier League, I do. He’s that good a player.
“He was really, really important for them.”
The Celtic fans know how good Hatate is and how important he is to the team. His performance against Rangers has proved that.
We all know he will move on at some point but let’s just hope it’s not sooner, and much, much later.
