Flaunt Your Favourite Music on Your Instagram Profile with These Easy Steps
Our Instagram profiles have somewhat become an extension of our personality, with the social media platform rolling out cool features to let us customise our handles. One such update which helps you flaunt your vibe is adding music to your Instagram profile. With this feature, users can plug their favourite tracks into their profile page and share their musical tastes with their followers. If you don’t know how to go about it, here’s a step-by-step guide.
With reels, highlights, broadcast channels and a host of interactive elements – the Meta-owned platform isn’t leaving any stone unturned in reinventing itself and becoming more engaging. With the Instagram profile music feature, reflecting your mood and vibes just got easier. However, did you know Instagram isn’t the first to offer this feature? Back in the early 2000s, MySpace allowed users to add music to their profiles but unlike the IG version, it autoplayed the song. With this trivia, let’s get into our guide.
Here’s how to easily add music to your Instagram profile
When you add music to your Instagram profile, you’ll see the track right below your bio. You and your followers can simply listen to the song by pressing the play button. The track will be trimmed to 30 seconds and you can choose any portion of the song you most prefer (much like how you add songs on Instagram stories, posts as well as reels). The main idea behind this update is to give a personalised touch to your Instagram handle.

Here’s how to do it:
- Update your Instagram app via the App Store or Google Play Store. The feature might not be available if your app isn’t up to date.
- Open the updated Instagram app and then head to your profile.
- Select ‘Edit Profile’ to make changes to your handle.
- Choose the ‘Music’ option and then tap on the ‘+’ icon to add a song.
- Search for your track from Instagram’s licensed music library and choose a 30-second segment from the song.
- Select ‘Done’ to confirm your selection and the song will finally appear beneath your bio.
So, spruce up your profile with this feature now.
