Los Angeles Angels vs. Washington Nationals
August 10, 2024 6:45 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents a matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and the Washington Nationals. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a FanDuel perspective.

Before we dive into the Los Angeles Angels vs. Washington Nationals game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will be one star and three flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The final three flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single Game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single Game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single Game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for this evening’s Los Angeles Angels vs. Washington Nationals matchup.

FanDuel MLB Player Selections

MVP-Alex Call, Outfielder, Washington Nationals $6,500

On Saturday night, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three game interleague series between the Los Angeles Angels and the Washington Nationals.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s Game? The Los Angeles Angels arrive at this evening’s contest with the Washington Nationals playing quality baseball. Let’s review the Angels recent Game data to better shed light on my previous statement. The Los Angeles Angels have won 11 of the team’s last 18 Games played in the 2024 MLB regular season, including an impressive 9-4 win over the New York Yankees two days ago.

In direct contrast to the Los Angeles Angels, the Washington Nationals have been playing below average baseball entering tonight’s game. More specifically, the Nationals have lost ten of the team’s last 17 games played this season, including an 8-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers last week.

It should be noted that the Washington Nationals defeated the Los Angeles Angels 6-0 in last night’s first game of this three game interleague series.

Now that we have ascertained how both of these Major League Baseball teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to this evening’s game. Washington outfielder Alex Call has certainly been swinging the bat well for the Washington Nationals recently. Having stated that, how has Call been playing from a statistical standpoint?

In his last four games played for the Nationals this season, Alex Call has accumulated a robust nine hits, four runs scored, and one walk in only 19 plate appearances. It has to be said, those are the type of DFS numbers I need to see from a player that I select for the MVP position. In my opinion, Alex Call’s FanDuel price of only $6,500 presents the best value of any player on this slate.

As I noted in the rules section above, selecting the correct MVP is absolutely vital if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest. In summary, I am backing Washington Nationals outfielder Alex Call at the MVP position for this one game MLB FanDuel DFS slate.

Flex plays I like (FanDuel price noted): Luis Garcia Jr., Second Baseman (Washington Nationals) $7,500: Zach Neto, Shortstop (Los Angeles Angels) $9,000: Kevin Pillar, Outfielder (Los Angeles Angels) $6,500.
