Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers
October 6, 2024 4:05 pm EDT

This Sunday afternoon, the NFL presents Draftkings football fans with a matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and the Arizona Cardinals. Let’s take a look at this NFL game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals Game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings single Game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this week’s Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers matchup.

Draftkings NFL Showdown Picks

Captain-Jordan Mason, Running Back, San Francisco 49ers $10,200

Talented San Francisco running back Jordan Mason has certainly been a key contributor to the 49ers offense in 2024. Let’s review Mason’s relevant player data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In the four games that Jordan Mason has played for the San Francisco 49ers in the 2024 NFL regular season, Mason has compiled 447 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, six receptions, and 57 receiving yards.

More recently, in the San Francisco 49ers dominating 30-13 victory over the New England Patriots last week, San Francisco running back Jordan Mason tallied 123 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, two receptions, and 37 receiving yards.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the San Francisco 49ers win over the 49ers just mentioned, Mason accumulated a whopping 27.1 Draftkings points.

I definitely like Jordan Mason from a general matchup perspective. Why? The Cardinals have had issues containing opposing running backs this season. Let me be more specific. Through four games played in the 2024 NFL regular season, the Arizona Cardinals are ranked a rather low 29th in total Draftkings points allowed a game (20.8) to opposing running backs. Keep in mind that the NFL has 32 teams in the entire league. Having stated that, being ranked 27th in any defensive category is clearly not good.

In summary, I think running back Jordan Mason is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in this game. For that specific reason, I am backing San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason at the captain position for this one game Draftkings NFL Showdown contest.

Flex Plays

Marvin Harrison Jr., Wide Receiver, Arizona Cardinals $10,400

Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has wasted little time showing the world that he belongs in the NFL. In the four games that Marvin Harrison Jr. has played for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2024 NFL regular season, Arizona starting quarterback Kyler Murray has targeted Harrison Jr. a massive 28 times. In those 28 targets, Harrison Jr. compiled 15 receptions, 243 receiving yards, and four receiving touchdowns.

I fully expect the talented rookie wide receiver to continue his outstanding play versus a vulnerable San Francisco 49ers secondary on Sunday afternoon.

Additional flex plays I like to perform well (Draftkings price noted): Brock Purdy, Quarterback, (San Francisco 49ers) $10,400: Deebo Samuel., Wide Receiver (San Francisco 49ers) $10,000: Michael Wilson, Wide Receiver (Arizona Cardinals) $5,400.
