August 22, 2024 2:00 am EDT

This week, Draftkings presents golf fans with the 2024 AIG Women’s Open. Let’s take a look at this week’s event from a DFS perspective.

Before I dive into my DFS player selections for the 2024 AIG Women’s Open let’s review the Golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a Golfer’s success at this week’s LPGA Tour event.

Where will the AIG Women’s Open be played?

The 2024 AIG Women’s Open will be played at St. Andrews (Old Course) in Fife, Scotland. The golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 6,649 yards.

Lilia Vu won the 2023 AIG Women’s Open with a cumulative four round score of 14 under par.

Will the AIG Women’s Open have a traditional cut after two rounds?

The AIG Women’s Open will have a field of 144 comPetitors to start the tournament on Thursday. This event will have a cut after the completion of the first two rounds. The top 65 Golfers and ties will make the cut.

2024 AIG Women’s Open Key Player Statistics

  • Driving Distance
  • GIR (greens in regulation)
  • Strokes Gained: Around the Green
  • Birdie of Better Percentage
  • Bogey Avoidance
  • Strokes Gained: Approach

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

AIG Women’s Open Draftkings DFS Picks

Jin Young Ko $10,200

Since the beginning of May, Jin Young Ko has played nine tournaments on the LPGA Tour. In those nine events just mentioned, Ko has tallied five top 12 finishes, including an impressive second place result at the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June.

Jin Young Ko also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Young Ko is currently ranked 16th in overall putting average (1.77), sixth in overall scoring average (70.56), and 20th in driving accuracy (75.44%) on the LPGA Tour. I fully expect Jin Young Ko to continue her outstanding play in Scotland this week.

Georgia Hall $7,700

Georgia Hall arrives at this week’s major championship in rather good form. Let me be more specific. Hall has accumulated three top 17 finishes in her last four tournaments played on the LPGA Tour, including a 12th place result at last week’s 2024 Genesis Scottish Open.

Additionally, Georgia Hall has played well at this week’s event previously. Hall finished second at the 2021 AIG Women’s Open.

Jenny Shin $7,500

Jenny Shin has accumulated seven top 30 finishes in her last nine events played on the LPGA Tour, including a ninth-place result at the 2024 ShopRite LPGA Classic in June.

Due to Jenny Shin’s impressive ninth-place finish at the 2024 ShopRite LPGA Classic I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Shin fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of comPetitive play at the 2024 ShopRite LPGA Classic, in relation to the field, Jenny Shin ranked eighth in driving distance (272.1 yards), third in strokes gained approach (2.060), and 14th in strokes gained tee to green (1.863). The data just presented clearly illustrates that Jenny Shin is playing outstanding Golf entering this week’s final major championship of the year.

Additional golfers I like to play well this week (Draftkings price noted): Rose Zhang $8,900: Ayaka Furue $11,000: Esther Henseleit $8,200: Sarah Schmelzel $7,200.
