Celtic are on the hunt for Joe Hart’s successor after he made the decision to retire from the game when last season ended.

He bowed out on a high, winning a league title and a Scottish Cup in his last season, making it seven trophies in three years at Celtic, which included three consecutive leagues.

Since his decision to hang up his gloves, there have been dozens of goalkeepers linked to the position at Celtic.

It has been reported that Celtic will look to bring in an experienced goalkeeper for a lesser price. Someone who could fit that criteria is Asmir Begovic.

The current QPR ‘keeper and captain has EPL experience and will be available on a free contract this summer.

During an interview on talkSPORT with Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent, Begovic, a former Premier League winner, addressed the speculation about his future.

“I am currently looking at options, talking to obviously QPR and see what happens there, see what happens in the next few weeks, still pretty early in the transfer window.

“Nothing has been decided yet. I am keeping myself fit. I really enjoyed last year, the fact that I played so many Games.”

Personally, I don’t think Begovic would be a good move for Celtic, and if he was to come to Glasgow’s east end this summer, it would be as a backup or a short-term fix and even at that, it wouldn’t be inspiring in the slightest.
