The Celtic players began to return to Lenoxtown last week for pre-season, but a fair few remain on summer breaks and international duty.

The likes of Greg Taylor, Callum McGregor, James Forrest, and Daizen Maeda are still on holiday, with Alistair Johnston at the Copa America with Canada.

Les Rouges are into the quarter-finals, but the same cannot be said for Cameron Carter-Vickers and the USA.

They were beaten 1-0 by Uruguay in their final group Game overnight, confirming their early exit from the comPetition.

In the match, Celtic’s Carter-Vickers was an unused substitute. The central defender was widely criticised for his poor cameo in his country’s defeat to Panama last week, and he resultantly didn’t play a single minute in Kansas early this morning.

Now, the defender will likely have a brief yet deserved break ahead of a return to Celtic for the new season.

Contracted with the champions until 2029, Carter-Vickers is the beating heart of the Bhoys’ backline and despite international disappointment, he’ll be key for his club in 2024/25.
