Celtic captain Callum McGregor has described the Hoops’ recent title success as the most satisfying of his career so far.

The skipper missed only three Premiership Games throughout the campaign and was a key figure at the heart of the midfield.

Returning manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted to have a familiar face as his dressing room leader when he returned to Celtic last summer, and McGregor seems to have driven his messages into the players effectively.

He is a key leader within the squad and a serial winner. The recent Scottish Cup triumph put him level with club legend Scott Brown on trophies won while also maintaining the remarkable stat that he has never lost a cup final he’s played in.

Some titles have been more easily won than others for McGregor, but he thinks this season’s was most fulfilling.

The 30-year-old was speaking in a preview of a Celtic special – ‘Champions Again’ – on Sky Sports that will air this Friday.

He said: “I think they get more difficult every year, they get harder every year, there’s always a bigger target on your back and when you’re a champion, everyone wants to beat you.

“Probably the way that this one’s came about and the way that we’ve managed to get over the line – a lot of pressure situations and a lot of pressure moments – I would say (it’s) one of, if not the most satisfying one, just the way that it’s came about.”
