The 26-year-old Scotland international has been integral to Celtic’s success over the past three seasons, contributing significantly to their title triumphs.

Rodgers, speaking before the upcoming match against Chelsea, revealed that negotiations with Greg Taylor and his representatives were already underway.

He said: “I think there was communication maybe towards the end of last season,” as quoted by SunSport.

“I also met with Greg’s agent to talk through the importance of where I see it but also to be honest and open where everything is at.

“It’s clear we want to keep him. I’m hopeful that we can get a deal done because he’s a very important player for us.”

Taylor, while not universally acclaimed, has consistently demonstrated his commitment on the field, earning him an extension. Despite initial challenges in securing the starting left-back position, Taylor has solidified his role, distinguishing himself under two top managers in the position.

The Greenock-born defender has been part of a Celtic side that has secured eight trophies during his tenure. As the team looks ahead to another comPetitive season, Taylor aims to continue his form, contributing to Celtic’s pursuit of further silverware.
