Kyogo wasn’t the player that Celtic fans had grown to adore last season, finding it hard to get involved in games and get on the scoresheet.

Yet, he did still shine on the European front and added a couple of derby goals to his collection.

The striker has openly expressed his feelings about the past season, describing it as “difficult” and “frustrating,” despite the success of winning a third consecutive league title and the Scottish Cup under manager Brendan Rodgers.

During an interview on Daisuke Nasu’s ‘Sushi Talk’, Kyogo discussed the challenges he faced over the season.

“It was a difficult season. Compared to last year, I didn’t score as many goals. There were times when I couldn’t play in the Games and there were times when I had to start in the middle of a Game.

“It was a frustrating season, but it didn’t end with that kind of frustration. Changing my position expanded the range of my Game, and I was able to experience many different things. I had a lot of different experiences, and I think I grew one more step. Instead of focusing on the bad things, I think positively that I was able to grow and take another step forward.”

There have been rumours that have linked him to a move back to his home country earlier on in the transfer window, but nothing came to fruition, and it’s unlikely to for at least this window.

Kyogo is the only senior striker at Celtic, and Brendan Rodgers has openly admitted he wants three at the club. It’s a big job bringing two forwards into the club, nevermind three.
