Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers led his side to a comfortable victory over Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League last night.

The Bhoys were on it from start to finish, scoring some fantastic goals to secure a historic 5-1 win.

Several players performed to an elite standard, but one man who particularly stood out was Arne Engels.

The Belgian midfielder set up Liam Scales early doors with a terrific corner delivery before getting himself in on the act in the second half with a cool penalty.

The hefty £11m fee Celtic shelled out for Engels already looks to be paying off.

Indeed, the 21-year-old has seamlessly slotted into Rodgers’ starting 11 over the past few Games.

So far, he has lived up to expectations in green and white, and the manager wants more signings like Engels and to keep up with the mantra of signing quality, not quantity.

The midfielder came in as an elite-level young player who already has bags of quality. A significant fee was shelled out on his services, but it already looks to have been worth it.

“The club will back me, they’ve been great with that,” said Rodgers (Celtic FC on YouTube).

“Going forward, we want to add a few more as well that will help evolve that as well. But currently, as I say, we’re in a really good place.

“We’ve spent money, but we’ve brought a lot of money in—we’ve brought more in. So there’s no pressure.”

Although it didn’t look likely at certain points over the summer, Rodgers was eventually backed, and with the players at his disposal, he is doing a terrific job so far this campaign.

The Hoops have won every Game they’ve played this term and are firing on all cylinders.

Falkirk now lie in wait this Sunday as Celtic look to make it to the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup.
