Brendan Rodgers Believes Friday Night Star has Potential for Celtic Breakthrough
Brendan Rodgers has lauded Bosun Lawal for his performance in Celtic’s pre-season draw against Ayr United.
The match saw a pair of first-half penalties define the scoreline. Celtic’s Kyogo opened the scoring, converting a penalty after Odin Thiago Holm was brought down in the area. Ayr United responded with Anton Dowds equalising from the spot following a foul on George Oakley.
Rodgers took the opportunity to rotate his squad extensively, giving Game time to a mix of established players and promising youngsters as Celtic ramps up preparations for the upcoming season. Among those, Bosun Lawal, back from a successful loan spell at Fleetwood Town, received a special commendation from Rodgers for his performance.
In a post-match interview with Celtic TV, Rodgers expressed his admiration for Lawal, stating, “I really like Bosun. He is a player clearly that has got a lot of physical attributes. But what he has as well is a lot of Football ability. Been out on loan and you can see he has had that experience and has that power and quality to break though. We seen that this evening. Really pleased for him.”
Lawal’s display against Ayr United has evidently positioned him as a player to watch as Celtic continues its pre-season schedule, with Rodgers clearly signalling his intent to integrate the young talent more firmly into the first-team setup.
