Beyoncé’s uncle dead at 77, mom Tina Knowles pays tribute: ‘I will miss him so much’
Beyoncé’s beloved uncle Rowland Martin Buyince has died at age 77.
The superstar’s mother Tina Knowles announced the sad news on social media, revealing that her brother, known as Butch, died over the weekend.
“My Beautiful big brother Butch went to be with God this weekend. I will miss him so much ! He was a career Airforce man,” Knowles wrote in an Instagram post shared with her 4 million followers on the platform.
The touching note captioned a black and white Military photo of her late sibling.
“He loved riding motorcycles, was a black belt in karate and had the most beautiful green eyes and good looks,” Knowles went on. “He was a great story teller.”
The matriarch continued, “He had an incredible wife Jeanette and devoted daughter Dana, two beautiful grandchildren Yvette and Roland. He was greatly loved.”
“Sail on Butch❤️❤️Rowland Martin (Butch) Buyince’ June 1946 – Feb 2024 RIP,” she concluded.
Knowles’ heartbreak comes just days after she and her daughters Beyoncé and Solange attended the Luar fashion show in New York on February 13.
Tina sat front row with her daughters as they watched her grandson Daniel “Julez” Smith Jr. walk the runway.
The “16 Carriages” hitmaker, who last week released two new country songs, rocked an embellished cowboy hat in line with her new musical era as she watched 19-year-old Julez strut down the catwalk.
Julez’s mom and Beyoncé’s sister, Solange, beamed with pride as she watched her son model the label’s latest collection at New York Fashion Week.
Solange, who shares Julez with ex-husband Daniel Smith, posted several images of her son on her Instagram Story after the show.

“Julez closing out Fashion Week walking for @Luar Raul these clothes are fire !!!❤️❤️❤️,” Tina wrote on Instagram.
The 70-year-old rocked a black blazer and long brown leather gloves, as well as gold jewelry and a matching ring.
Beyoncé announced last week that she will release the highly anticipated second act of her critically acclaimed “Renaissance” album on March 29, which she had dedicated to her other late uncle, Johnny, who died when the singer was 17.
