Arne Engels Makes Defiant Premier Sports Cup Final Vow on Instagram
Celtic midfielder and club record signing Arne Engels has vowed the Hoops will be ready to face Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup final next month.
The Hoops booked their place in the Hampden showdown on Saturday evening courtesy of a dominant 6-0 victory over Aberdeen.
Few expected the Bhoys to win in the manner they did, with the Dons offering little in the way of a challenge.
Cameron Carter-Vickers opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, with Japanese duo Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda ensuring the Hoops went in 3-0 up at the break. Maeda completed his hat-trick in the second 45 as Nicolas Kuhn got in on the act, too.
Although he didn’t score, Engels’ performance in the middle of the park more than caught the eye.
The Belgian grew into the Game as it progressed, putting in a battling midfield performance and combining well with Reo Hatate in the engine room.
Engels showed the creative side to his Game as well, lobbing the ball onto Carter-Vickers’ head from a corner for the opener and laying off Kuhn for the Celts’ fifth of the evening.
The 21-year-old took to Instagram last night, hailing his side’s semi-final performance as ‘huge’, as he vowed to be ready for the challenge of Rangers in the final next month:

Indeed, Brendan Rodgers will bring his men to Hampden on Sunday, December 15, for yet another cup final against the Ibrox side.
Going by the Scottish Premiership league table, Aberdeen should have provided the Celts with a more difficult challenge than the Gers will. Let’s see what next month brings.
