A viral photo of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in a walking boot on Independence Day had fans in a frenzy, especially after he sat out with an ankle injury for nearly the entire 2020 season. With everything going on with the Cowboys team as of late, the last thing they need is for their starting quarterback to be injured.

Prescott squashed those concerns himself though, saying that the boot was simply a precautionary measure. Prescott was going on a fishing trip in Mexico and was just playing it safe by wearing the boot in case something happened.

Or was he?

Rumors that Cowboys are hiding the truth about Prescott’s injury

The rumors about Prescott’s injury surfaced before the photo did. Sports bettor Steve Fezzik made a claim on the Ross Tucker podcast that many bettors were betting on the Cowboys significantly less, saying that Prescott was dealing with a mystery injury that required an MRI.

Next thing you know, there was the photo and reports saying that he’d suffered from a sprained foot that was of no real concern to his start to the season. Prescott chalked it up to just getting older, and hosted his youth Football camp without wearing the boot.

“Literally, it’s absolutely nothing. People are reaching, trying to make things that they aren’t,” Prescott said. “I’m getting older and having to take care of my body and be smart. If I have to take precautions and lessen something by putting on a boot, I’ll do it. Sorry that it caused such a whirlwind.”

I mean...he seems okay here to me...right...? RIGHT???

Former Cowboys defensive end Chris Canty isn’t buying Prescott’s story. Canty is a cohost on a radio show called “UnSportsmanlike Conduct with Cohen, Canty, and Michelle”, and he said on Wednesday that Prescott’s story is...well, fishy.

“Taping your ankles is precaution,” said Canty. “That’s a precaution. Wearing a walking boot says something happened. Now, I don’t know what that something is, and maybe there’s plenty of time for him to heal up and get it 100 percent before training camp.”

Canty seems to think the Cowboys are purposely downplaying Prescott’s injury in order to avoid the panic felt when the photo first surfaced.

“Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are trying to quell something that would otherwise be a massive story on the eve of training camp,” he said.

The Cowboys have their first open practice of training camp on Thursday, July 25, at which point it will be quite difficult to hide if there really is something to worry about with Prescott and his foot. They will also have to release an injury report before training camp begins. So if there is something up with Dak’s foot, they won’t be able to hide it for much longer.
