Anthony Martial's potential destinations - ranked
Anthony Martial was an exciting prospect when he first arrived at Manchester United, making his sensational debut in the Red Devil's 3-1 win over Liverpool in September 2015.
He was aged just 19 when he arrived, and became the talk of the summer when his astronomical £36m fee was revealed. Yet, over the following eight seasons, Martial's stock fell quite a bit.
His contract is now set to expire in the summer and the 28-year-old will be forced to leave Old Trafford for free. His high wages and frequent injuries have made him unattractive for future clubs, and time is running out for him to find a new home.
Here's who he could join in the summer:
Anthony Martial's potential transfer destinations - ranked
5. Saudi Pro League
Plenty of Premier League stars have made the move to Saudi Arabia, seeking lucrative deals and a different challenge in the Game.
Martial has previously rejected offers from the Saudi Pro League, making this move unlikely. However, if a big pay packet his offered, his mind could be changed.
It is believed that the attacker will aim for a move to France or Italy, but he wouldn't be the first United star to move to the Middle East.
Fit? 3/10
4. Marseille
Rumours began to float around towards the end of last year linking Martial with a move to Marseille.
This move would've allowed him to return to France and play in Ligue 1, a league he carries experience in after a stunning spell at AS Monaco. In his second season at Monaco, Martial scored nine goals in 36 Games, leading to his eventual move to Old Trafford.
However, Marseille were quick to deny rumours linking them to the player, with reports saying they had 'grown frustrated' with the conversation.
If Marseille were to change their minds and offer the forward a contract, he would have the opportunity to prove himself in his home nation once again.
Fit? 5/10
3. Olympique Lyonnais
Martial began his professional career at Lyon after progressing through their youth system, so it's possible that a move back there would be of interest.
The club have already turned down the chance to sign him, and his future could be in limbo as there are few clubs that will be able to fork out the £250,000-a-week wages that United have set.
But, Pierre Sage took over as Lyon manager at the end of 2023, and may be keen to welcome a big name to the team.
Lyon could be Martial's best chance of returning home to France, the question just remains whether the Ligue 1 side will offer him that opportunity.
Fit? 6/10
2. Fenerbahce
Fenerbahce were the favourites to land Martial in the January transfer window. But, the French forward rejected interest from the Turkish side and instead decided to stay and fight for his place at United.
The club may reignite their interest when the end of the season rolls around, formulating a link up between Martial and former United teaMMAte Fred.
Fred will be thankful for his move to Turkey, where he has featured in 18 Super Lig matches, earning two goals and three assists.
Martial may look to follow suit.
Fit? 7/10
1. Inter
It's not the first time that Martial has been linked with the Serie A side, but now reports state that Inter will consider a move for the French striker.
However, there are conditions. Inter's top target in attack is Genoa's Albert Gudmundsson, and so they will only sign Martial if they cannot complete a deal for the Icelandic forward. Gudmundsson is contracted until 2027, so would require a significant fee to be forked out.
Martial would be a much cheaper option given he would arrive on a free.
The forward will be looking for a fresh start and a move to Serie A could be a great opportunity to re-establish himself.
Fit? 8/10
